What is Acupuncture?
Acupuncture is a therapeutic healing practice that has been used for thousands of years throughout all of Asia to help cure a wide range of ailments. Acupuncture is the technique of inserting fine filiform needles into the dermal layer (the second layer of the skin) to stimulate peripheral nerves and tissues in order to decrease pain and help quicken the healing process. The traditional theory of acupuncture views the body as a complex energetic roadmap, connecting vital organs and physiological systems to maintain a body that acts as an integrated whole.
In today’s modern world acupuncture is used to help treat a variety of symptoms in traditional Western medical practices including hospitals and medical clinics.
At Acupuncture Integration we specialize in treating our patients holistically. The holistic health approach focuses on treating the entire person including their ailments. Instead of focusing on specific parts of a person’s body, the holistic approach considers the person’s body, thoughts, emotions and interaction with others and with the environment. Often in acupuncture we will treat one area of the body that seems unrelated to the problematic area, but traditional theory shows that treating one area of the body may provide relief to a connected area. The aim of our holistic approach is to support maximum well-being with the resources available.
